Communication Leads to Successful Nursing Practice Essay

In this assignment, I will reflect an incident happened during my clinical placement to develop my communication skills not just theoretically but in practical facing real life environment. There is a lot of factors that may influence nursing practice. In this essay, I will discuss the importance of communication in developing nurse-patient relationship. Communication in nursing as stated by Sheldon (2004) was, â€Å"Many definitions describe [communication] as a transfer of information between a source and a receiver. In nursing, communication is a sharing of health-related information between a patient and a nurse, with both participants as sources and receivers. The information may be verbal or nonverbal, written or spoken, personal or impersonal, issue-specific, or even relationship-oriented, to name a few possibilities. â€Å". The aim of this essay is to reflect what had happen during my placement and this gives me opportunity to improve my nursing care plan, which is based on the patient’s initial valuation. David Kolb,1984 said in his book called † Experiental Learning: Experience as a Source Of Learning and Development,(Kolb, 1984)† that reflection is a way in which we examine our experiences and draw lessons from them. QIA Key Skills Support Programme(2007) added that reflection can help to bridge the gap between theory and practice and enable us to look critically at our own behaviour, the behaviour of other people and at the organizational and social context within which we operate. In my context with my event, it is important for me to improve my nurse-patient relationship in terms of communication. In this reflection essay, I am going to use Gibbs (1988) model of reflection. This model is a recognized framework that will help me to reflect what was going on during my 16 days of clinical placement in one of major government hospital. Gibbs model of reflection consist of six stages where the stages link with each other making a continuous cycle to facilitate critical thought, relating theory to practice where this model allow me to see my weaknesses and improvements during my clinical placement. Gibbs’ model of reflection encourages you to think systematically about the phases of an experience or activity, and you should use all the headings to structure your reflection (Oxford Brooks University, 2011). This model of reflection also a good brainstorming of experiences that will end up with solutions to be made and things to be fix and for us to be aware in the future. Jasper M(2003) explains in her book called † Beginning Reflective Practice – Foundations in Nursing and Health Care† that Gibbs model of reflection starts with description of the event which I will discuss in my reflection. The second stage is going to be the analysis of feelings, where I have to tell how I am feeling when that situation happened. Third stage of Gibbs is evaluation of the experience, then comes the fourth stage that is analysis. In this stage I will discuss about the event and from what sense that I can use out of that situation that I am facing in the event. Conclusion and action plan are the last two stages which later on will discuss what else could I have done and what action can I do if the situation arose again along my course in nursing and in future time. Description In this paragraph, I would like to describe what happen during my clinical placement. I was selected to be in the female surgical ward in one of the government major hospital for my first clinical placement. The ward dealing with pre-operative, post-operative patients and orthopedic patients. The ward is divided into four cubicles which each of the two controlled by different unit; operative care unit and orthopedic unit. So, came this morning when me and my colleagues join the qualified nurses do their passing patients report, a family member of a patient name Ms. A approached me and complains that her daughter felt pain at her abdominal area. Ms. A is a 22-year-old young lady who has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer, (colorectal cancer occurs when tumors formed in the lining of the large intestine, also called the large bowel – National Cancer Institute,2003) as a result, giving her cramp feeling in the abdominal area, vomiting and change in bowel movements. She is in a nursing special care called palliative care,(palliative care – an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problem associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual – WHO 2011) as her cancer was in incurable stage. I, as the student nurse immediately followed my mentor with few qualified nurses as they heard Ms.  A who was screaming continuously as she claims her pain was unbearable. It was my first time seeing or even hearing someone in that much pain, so I stood near her bedside and just look at the qualified nurses assess her after I introduced myself as student nurse. Effective communication is vital, as what have been stated in NursingTimes(2007) † Failure to communicate well with a patient right away will destroy the delicate n urse/patient relationship and mean the patient does not trust the nurse. † Feeling Here, I would discuss the feeling and thinking that I had when I was in the situation. First I introduced myself to Ms. A as I need to build a good rapport with Ms. A so she won’t feel awkward and panicked with my presence with other qualified nurses. Like Crellin. K (1998) said in her 11 Ways To Built Rapport article, â€Å"Taking time to establish a rapport with them can help them cope and improve their willingness in cooperate with the treatment†. I was shocked and stood near her as she can’t stand with her abdominal pain. There is limited skills that I can do to help Ms. A during that time as I am still new in the environment. I were taught to ask Ms. A condition and asisst her to calm down by communicating with her. Evaluation In my evaluation, I feel that I did the right thing to attend Mrs. A and help the qualified nurses dong their task by communicating and be an empathic listener (emphatic listener is a way of listening and responding to another person that improves mutual understanding and trust, Richard. S 2003) and active listener so that she feels safe and know that someone care about her other than her family. As said by Richard Salem(2003), Emphatic listening will build trust and respects and creates safe environment that is conducive to collaborative problem solving. So, these control her emotionally to make her to calm down and get back to her stable condition. The doctor who attend her indirectly taught me how to make Ms. A to calm down, by facing a challenging speaker who was in pain. The key to active listening is relaxed attention – to listen with my whole body by using verbal and non-verbal skill like facing the speaker(patient) and maintaining eye contact with them (University of Maine,1914). Analysis To analyse of what happened, the factors that affect my communication with Ms. A was her unbearable pain. Effective communication and act as a professional were quite difficult as I never had a long conversation with her except for asking permission for assessing her vital signs which were temperature, blood pressure and breathing rate. Active listening also needed in this context as it help the speaker clarify what they are saying and makes them feel heard and it reduces emotions that block clear thinking (University of Miane – 1914), hence it reduces her pain mentally. By listening to her, rephrasing what I heard the patient say as patient won’t be receptive to your response until her thought ,ideas and feeling are communicated and understood(U. M,1914). Conclusion To conclude this, I am sure that communication is the most important skill to have as this will lead me to a successful nursing practice in any situation. Without effective communication, I won’t be able to establish a good rapport with Ms. A and her family. As said by Sheldon, (2004) â€Å"The power of creative and effective nursing care is strengthened by good communication skills. Patients share their stories, symptoms, and concerns by talking with us. Both the spoken word and the body language convey information about the patient’s experience. Your words can do so much: put a patient at ease, set up a productive relationship, and carry out interventions. There is no other skill that is used more in nursing than communication. † and Kacperek (1997)suggested that effective communication is dependent on the nurse’s ability to listen and utilize non-verbal communication skills. Ms. A feels thankful for our presence helping her with er pain by giving painkiller right after her mother called us. Action plan If the same situation arose again, I would like to get myself prepared with any circumstances that might happen, in my case, to communicate with patients in professional way without waiting for emergency situations. Research, asking tips for good rapport and effective communication are ways to solve my communication weaknesses. Without proper communication, it is difficult to understand patient’s need. Therefore, I would like to remind myself that, effective communication is the bridge towards successful and efficient nursing practice. Therefore in nursing practice, it is essential to have the knowledge of interaction, not just practical skills like bed making, vital signs and bed bathing but well prepared with good communication skill to face any situation that we might experience anytime. Without good nurse-patient relationship being built, trust and cooperation between both parties won’t exist. As Lanette L. Anderson (n. d) â€Å"They may not remember our names, but they will remember how we treated them during a difficult time in their lives. â€Å"

Managerial Role Essay

Even though the employees are the prime workers in any organisations managers have to manage their employees and even he has to manage the external atmosphere at and around the organisation to run the organisation in an admirable path and their by achieving the predetermined goals. Here I would like to present the manager’s job in an organisation with an example of an interview and with my research work. I took an interview from a manager of software Solutions Company a small scale information technology based company in Australia. hile interviewing him we come across some of the important qualities of a manager According to him a manager should have a good academic qualifications like a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in any of the administrative fields, unless and until if a manager have a good academics he may not be able to solve academic problems in his company. He should also have good communicative skills and interactive skills, marketing ability, managing the customers and a good personality. R. W. Griffin defines manager as a person who first of all is responsible for realization of management process. In particular manager is â€Å"the person, that makes plans and decisions, organizes, supervises and controls human, finance and information resources† (Griffin 2000). I totally agree to the above statements as they said a manager should have a good academic qualification and he even should have a good personality to operate all the above mentioned functions. Unless a manager possesses them he/she can’t keep his company in a better position. He also stated that he has to interact with many people in his day to day life as his company is an IT based company deals with the problems in the technological aspects in hardware and software. He should have proper capability to face many new customers in his day to day life and to a lot his employees for the solution of the customers’ problem. He should attend the customer in his own office or at other private places in favour of customers’ flexibility. He has to take care of his employees, the resources he is utilizing, the marketing staff, more important the customers who are their bread and butter. Doing this he has to keep an eye on the technical advances in his field and on his competitors. So here I understand that managers’ job is much crucial job in any company and he has to be in up-to-date at things that are happening at and around his company. Many managers attain success by coordinating his/her employee effect, in turn obtaining success to the organisation. He states that in his list of people he has to interact in his everyday life the customers are his prime concern because they the main source of the companies’ income unless a customer satisfied with the employees work, he would not pay the amount. So in this relation I came to know that there exists a mutual benefit relationship between the customer and the company hence it is a good example for reciprocal relationship. â€Å"The needs to better understand customer behaviour and the interest of many managers to focus on those customers who can deliver long-term profits have changed how marketers view the world† (Russell S. Winer). The author says that consumers can change the performance of a market and the running style of an organisation hence a good manager should always keep his eye on such type of consumers. Next comes his employees, a good manager should maintain a good interaction with his employees. According to him â€Å"a good manager should look after their employees and he should be their well-wisher†. He says that a good interaction between a manager and his employees builds up a positive energy in the workplace results in better performance of the employee leading to success of the employee as well as the company. He even said that he will help his employees in various ways like allotting them regular and flexible working hours, monitoring their work, giving feedback whenever necessary and solving their issues regarding their work and in their lives. This shows there exists a reciprocal relationship with in them. He said that he has only 4 regular employees working currently with him and hires others whenever necessary. According to Katuria. M in his article named â€Å"three ways to built successful employee manager relationship† he stated that â€Å"the only relationship more important to an organisation than the ustomer-company relationship is the manager- employee relationship and according to the exit interview the no. 1 reason people leave their job is because of their improper relationship with the manager†. Going through all the above conversation I totally agree to both of them and I strictly believe in good manager- employee relationship which aids in success of the com pany and its employees. â€Å"An organisation grows and evolves new positions are added, senior managers have to find a way to tie all these departments together. Coordination refers to the quality of collaboration across the departments. It is required whether there is a functional, divisional or term structure†. (Draft 2012) this statement explains the most responsible duty of a manager in a growing company. It tells us that in a rapidly growing company the managers play a important role that is he has to do division and interlinking the departments there by forming more and more stronger work unit which helps them in solving more complex problems. When dealing with the suppliers he gave me the information that he is connected to many suppliers in his place and even in the Melbourne. As the company is based on the problems and solutions coming in the information technology, they have to be provided with plenty of resources. They need various types of computer spare parts, softwares and many advanced features which were been provided to them by many suppling companies. Even they dealings with vast companies like Harvey Norman etc. He explained me the advantages and disadvantages of maintaining such large groups of suppliers. Ha stated that trust is the main factor that works between suppliers and the company administrator. Many transactions run based on the trust philosophy only. Unless they trust a supplier and use their products they can’t run the company in some situations. I support this statement that trust is the main part of the business. I can state that trust should exist not only between a supplier and the management but also at all the levels in the business sector that is it should be in between the consumer-organisation-supplier. â€Å"Supplier Relationship Management is an all-inclusive approach to managing the affairs and interactions with the organizations that supply your company with goods and services. This includes communications, business practices, negotiations, methodologies and software that are used to establish and maintain a relationship with a supplier. Benefits include lower costs, higher quality, better forecasting and less tension between the two entities that result in a win-win relationship† (Bucki. j). The author explains us that for any company the supplier management relation should be in such a way that there is a benefit from both the sides and the tools were developed to reduce the work related problems between the supplier and the managers in the company who look after all these raw materials. I totally believe with the above discussions because unless there is an adequate amount of raw materials for a company they cannot reach the level of customer satisfaction which is their main goal and the supplier also has to be loyal to the company and supply the raw materials in time there by maintaining a mutual benefit relationship between them. The next I am going to discuss the other important environmental factor the labour market. In this case as the manager already stated that he hires the employees whenever he needs, in explanation to this he gave me the information that when his regular staff are not sufficient to complete a task which was assigned to them he hires some of the software professionals from the employment centres for a shorter period of time and assigns them to work with his regular employees. Without strategic planning it is unlikely that any organisation will be able to meet successfully numerous challenges that face them† (Bryson. j. m). This shows that planning and organisation is the main crucial duties of a manager. Manager has to plan the project prior to its start and distribute the work to his employees accordingly. If a manager fails to perform this step in his level he/she may not be able to reach the target level and fails in leading the organisation and its staff. Finally for an organisation to run in the way of profits and to sustain in this present competitive word the manager has to look after many types of environmental factors some of them which are prime concerned are discussed above the other factors which influence the organisation are Technology, Natural, Sociocultural, Economic, Legal, Political, International (all of these come under external environment) and Culture management. (Draft, R. L) in my opinion manager should have the capability in controlling all these environmental factors. This company having limited employees and being a small scale company the external environmental factors may not have such a great influence. Among them only the technology has a powerful impact because it is purely a software solution company so the employees and the manager should beware of the changing trends in the technology and should be in up to date daily. Recommendations: Keeping in mind the whole interview and with my research I would like to recommend some changes this organisation should implement for better progress they are 1. Increase the employee work ratio. 2. Use of the labour market for hiring the employees should be stopped because the information in the company regarding the projects and codes should be within the company. 3. Instead of hiring the employees from the outside try to increase the regular employees which helping him in planning the work and confidentiality 4. Being a software company I think he should organise some conferences such that his employee will get more latest technical skills 5. As the work hours were longer during the day he has to create work life balance to his employees and for him he. 6. Customer satisfaction should be increased to transform this to a large scale company. Conclusion: Finally I conclude that the environmental factors influence on any organisation is very much crucial and the managerial staff any company should keep an eye on it in order to run the organisation in an admirable way. Various people who are in close relation to the organisation should work together for the mutual benefit of the organisation as well as them.

What are the dansgers of stereotyping people Essay

What are the dansgers of stereotyping people - Essay Example Stereotyping infers a considerable amount of information about individuals beyond their apparent superficial qualities and generates expectations about their expected behavior in various situations. Stereotypes are frequently based around common aspects of a particular group including profession and occupation, sex, religious beliefs and practices, age, race and ethnicity, dressing, speech and body shape (Macrae, Stangor & Hewstone 8). There are dangers associated with stereotyping such as promoting discrimination and bias because stereotypes lack accuracy, applying stereotypes broadly such that individual characteristics are overlooked, making serious misjudgments about people and distorting the view of a particular group and consequently damaging relationships. One danger of stereotyping is that it takes on universal meaning, being applied to all members of a particular group. If this occurs with lack of accuracy, stereotyping not only becomes damaging, but also affects the way those who are thought to belong to the particular group being stereotyped are talked about and treated. It is apparent that how a group of people is seen influences in part how they are treated. Stereotypes may come to be the accepted way of thinking about members of a particular group, with no acknowledgement of diverse individual characteristics. Stereotyping can result in misunderstandings, which, if not challenged, can severely damage relationships among different groups. An example of this is the race riots and violence of 1980s (Brunsch 9).Stereotyping results in discrimination and persecution of the oppressed groups. For instance, the stereotyping of Asian Americans has led to denial of their civil rights and even homicide such as the killing of Chinese American Vincent Chin by individuals who thought he was a Japanese American (Brunsch 10). Moreover,

ELO reflection Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

ELO reflection - Essay Example The heightening of the adrenaline that comes with the speeding of the motorized vehicles is the best feeling. I have therefore developed interests in Play Station games that imitate the sport like ‘Need for Speed’. The excitement has also made me have an ever growing passion on movies such as ‘The Transporter’, ‘Need for Speed’ and ‘Fast and Furious’ (Crossroads Dragway, 2014). I have an interest in both the racing and non racing Motorsport activities. I am more propelled by the speeding effects that come with Motorsport thus making me to enjoy both kinds. I have an interest in automatic car racing, motorcycle racing and motor rallying when it comes to racing type of Motorsport. The non- racing Motorsports events that interest me include drifting, motorcycle trails, tractor pulling, freestyle Motorcross, and regulatory rallies. I have spent several moments in the past years just to get a glimpse of what is happening in these events. Even though I have passion with the Motorsports, I have never developed interest in knowing the participants. The case is different from that of movies since the elevating experience is also more captivating in the latter’s scenario (Crossroads Dragway, 2014). I have been captivated by the Motorsports, but the level differs when it comes to drag racing. The part of drag racing that interests me most is the fact that the competition is usually between two people at a time. In addition, most of the races are normally more competitive with the parties having a small gap as they go through the finish line. Due to the small difference that is experienced, the drag race employs the use of speed sensing systems and electric timing to record the results. The fact that the race course is normally on a straight short course of approximately a quarter mile in length elevates me more. It enables one to be able to see the whole competition

Business to Business Markets Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Business to Business Markets - Essay Example In the case of business-to-business, a manufacturer offers more attention to the requirements and demands of the wholesalers or retailers so as to retain its image and reputation in the market. Apart from this, in order to enhance its profitability and image in the market, a wholesaler needs to understand and identify all the changing requirements and preferences of the retailers or customers. This might facilitate the wholesaler to enhance its reliability and consistency within the minds of the customers thereby amplifying its profit margin and total revenue as well. Along with this, it might also amplify help an organization or a wholesaler to develop a good relationship with its customers or retailers thereby reducing its business risks. So, implementation of such a technique is extremely effective for any business enterprise or wholesaler to retain its portfolio in the market in future days (Christensen, 2003).  Moreover, it might help the wholesaler to enhance its position and dependency within the minds of the retailers and customers that may boost its portfolio in the market among others. For example: if a retailer or customer offers more concentration over the orange juices without pulps, then the wholesaler might place both pulpy as well as non-pulpy juices within his outlets. Only then, all the attributes or desires of the customers or retailers are offered equal weight-age so that the rate of switchover may be lowered as described by a non-compensatory model of marketing. Such a tactic is used to attract a wide range of customers or retailers towards the wholesaler thereby amplifying its market share and popularity among other rival players.

Consumer Behavior Research Proposal Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Consumer Behavior - Research Proposal Example While scholars like Rallapalli (2008) considered globalization as a blessing for the customers considering the increase in the number of options for decision making, Weinberg & Gottwald (2006) stated that the traditional buyer-seller relationship is changing because of globalization. Considering these sentiments, the primary focus of this research will be to analyze the influence of globalization on the behavior of the customer towards the multinational brands entering into the market. The aim of the research is to assess the influence of globalization on the customer behavior in respect to the multinational brands. The researcher also intends to evaluate the changes brought in the buying process of the customers as a result of globalization and identify the factors that are influencing the decision making process of the customers in the contemporary market scenario. The extent of globalization as a theoretical concept and reality is dominating the international business place. The concept of developing a unified market place for sustainable growth of the business houses and their customer base has taken a new shape, as the strategic aims of the business houses have altered from profit earning to accumulating customer base. On the other hand, the reaction of the customers towards the changes in the market place is mixed in nature. While some groups of customers are considering globalization to be one of the most advantageous alternations in market structure, others are finding it difficult to comprehend the developments in the market. In the words of Fornell (2007), globalization is not only for the business houses, it has given immense power to the customers by increasing the transparency in the market place. However, it is quite evident that despite having a larger market scope, many of the multinational firms are facing it difficult to perfor m in the new market places. This shows the contradictions in the nature of the business process and the

To Kill a Mockingbird Essay Example for Free

To Kill a Mockingbird Essay The reason behind the title of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird is that it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. Mockingbirds are considered innocent and selfless creatures. In Chelsey Philpot article The Long Life of a Mockingbird it stresses the importance of a mockingbird and the impact it has throughout To Kill a Mockingbird. Harper Lee’s definition of a mockingbird is seen continuously in the novel. It is that a person may be compared to a mockingbird if he is virtuous or without fault. Tom Robinson is an innocent man falsely accused of a crime and forced to defend his character. The false accusations that were forced upon Tom Robinson’s innocence reveal him as the greatest example of a Mockingbird in Harper Lees To Kill a Mockingbird. Firstly, a citizen of Maycomb County, Miss Maudie, thoroughly explains what a mockingbird is and what it means saying, â€Å"Mockingbirds dont do one thing but make music for us to enjoy†¦Thats why its a sin to kill a mockingbird†(Lee 119). To fully realize the mockingbird in Tom Robinson, the reader learns quickly that he is harmless. Adam Smykowski explains in Symbolism and Racism in To Kill a Mockingbird by saying, â€Å"A mockingbird symbolizes Tom Robinson, and underprivileged black people in general. They are innocent, and would never harm anyone. † Tom Robinson is a hardworking, African American. He lives with his wife and six children in a simple home in Maycomb County. An accident that occurred when Tom was young left him with absolutely no use of his left arm whatsoever. Laurie Champion explains in an article called Lees To Kill a Mockingbird that, â€Å"Toms left arm hung dead†. Even with the disability of his arm, Tom is a great example to his six children considering what terrible hardships had been placed on him throughout his life for no reason. The way that Tom conducts himself not only in private but also in public reveals his good character and genuine love for other people no matter what race or social class. Furthermore, Tom Robinson’s status as a mockingbird is seen through his kind and attentive actions toward others regardless of race. Tom’s actions toward Mayella Ewell reveal his status as a mockingbird. On his way to work, Tom frequently is asked by Mayella, a low class white woman, to come in and help her with chores and errands around the house. Just like a mockingbird expects no payment or reward for singing, Tom would not accept any payment at all for his kindness and help towards Mayella. She intern misinterprets Tom’s kindness and puts him in a difficult situation where she tries to seduce him. Tom immediately refuses. As a result she falsely accuses him of raping and assaulting her in order to hide her inappropriate sexual advances towards him. Moreover, Tom Robinson represents a mockingbird when he endures being verbally abused and harassed on the witness stand even though he is an innocent man. During his testimony, his handicapped arm is brought to the attention of the court while he is on trial. This proves that it would be impossible for him to have committed this crime due to the fact that her bruises from the assault where made by a man that, â€Å"led with his left hand† (Lee 177 ). Tom Robinson was proven innocent on many accounts. However, after a deliberation by the jury, he is convicted and will be killed in a futile attempt to escape from prison. In conclusion, Heck Tate summarizes Tom Robinson’s mockingbird symbolism when he compares Tom’s death to the â€Å"senseless slaughter of songbirds† (Lee, 323). Just like it is wrong to kill a mockingbird, it is wrong for the citizens of Maycomb to have killed Tom Robinson. The loss of his innocence is the reason he is the greatest example of a mockingbird in Haper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird.

Resolving Problems with a Local Area Network

Resolving Problems with a Local Area Network Network user problems: Explain different problems that a user of a local area network may faces while accessing the network. Poor or bad cable issue: Poor or bad cable issue is problem of a local area network which faces by user while accessing the network. In this problem, if the client computer is capable forconnect to the network, the performance might be reducing. Everyone could not be able to attach to the computer. Moreover, the current Gigabit network to the desktop is general, so that is why Gigabit category 5 will not work for less than concert and four pairs of cable as well. Cant get an IP address: The system is disconnected or ineffective. The operating system that can alert an address of the DHCP server (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) has not received. Furthermore, afterwards verifying the status of the system adapter can be configured to it. DHCP server could be out and server service will be interrupted as well. In addition, the device never reached the server for the first time. Printing problem issue: Printing problem is also of user area network which faces by user while accessing the network. Printing does not constantly work on network. To determine if a user is experiencing this problem, many people have the same problem. Moreover, only one problem, so it may be that the computer is not properly mapped to the printer server. If it does not cause the network between the client and the printer can be responsible for it. Provide a scenario as an example to explain a user having difficulties accessing the network. I am going to explain the scenario of a company difficulties which faced by user. AWI is a company and which company have so many computers.   There is some problem like poor or bad cable printing problem, can gets IP addresses. After that, user did find the issues and solve it with the help of internet. Identify and describe the potential solution to any 2 two of the problems mentioned above. Solution of Poor or bad cable: First of all, user should check cable, after that if any cable issue. Then user should change the cable. The cable has become untwisted; re-terminating the cable may resolve the errors. While following new advancements like power over Ethernet and Gigabit. The category 5 should be improved. Printing problem issue: In the beginning. Verify the configuration of printer, ensure it has a good IP address and can access the printer server as well. Apart from this, the print driver has settled printed problems. Hard disk failure: A hard disk failure issue of fileserver. A hard disk failure problem happen while a disk drive malfunction and accumulated the information and that cant be accessed correctly configuration to computer. Moreover, Due to this problem, heats up the desktop and laptop when starts. Due to inadequate or defective fan ventilation of the CPU, hardware equipments damage. Slow speed: In file server issues second point is slow speed. In slow speed issue when server is not working properly then, processor takes too much time for downloading the files and so on. Moreover, sometime this issue occur when we keep extra data in computer. Security Issues: -In security issue, server folder security used for the   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   client to offer the access to the file in the group. Hard drive usage: Hard drive usage is first and the foremost issue of network performance. Mostly information exchange starts and finishes with a hard drive.Specifically, if at least two projects attempt to get to the hard drive in the meantime, information throughput will drop exponentially. Moreover, it is normally the slowest part inside the machine. CPU usage: CPU must be shared by grater part of the product running on a framework. Framework with different CPUs is not quicker than those of single CPU. In present day working frameworks, there are regularly twenty to sixty projects running when the client is not doing anything. Window is here and then slower on different CPU. RAM: -In spite of the fact that system information exchange does not ordinarily include much direct memory utilization. Apart from this, this trouble is given a full report. The device is fixed to troubles successfully or negative consequence or still using the color code was imperfect. Nagios: -A flawless network to run all applications and all services must be up and running on the network at all times. An application, services, helps administrators to maintain critical systems at all times. Furthermore, to keep all this time is going to be good and also we need special control equipment i.e Nagois. This application is the core monitoring engine acts as a heart. The dude: -This dude monitoring tool is responsive device. Everyone can create automatic analysis for the device. Apart from this, it detects the trouble and alerts you while monitoring devices. Microsoft network monitor: Microsoft network monitor is local area network monitoring tool. This tool monitors the performance issues of a LAN network. Moreover, the operation control, to analyze and to capture the flow of traffic in the network allows to administrator. Mostly a device that network administrators must find easy to control.   This device is helpful for troubleshoot the networks problems and applications as well. Advanced IP scanner: In advanced IP scanner monitoring tool perfectly an administrator in a local area network, like network, wireless, routers devices for example mobile phones must be monitored. Moreover, this monitoring tool to share databases on a remote machine if HTTP and FTP has been able to connect as it helps us. This device allows starting the computer and shutting down the remote computer as well. 2.2  Ã‚   Install any available network monitoring tool on a computer having Windows Server 2008 and monitor the bandwidth usage over a period of at least 5 minutes. This picture represents the summary of capsa. 2.3  Ã‚   Analyze the information showed in the bandwidth monitoring graph to explain if the usage of network is reaching to its limits. First of all, I did install the capsa software. This software examines according the Internet protocol address. This represents the traffic buffet information. Moreover, this software gives information of summary and shows bytes, packets and bps so on. 2.4  Ã‚   Explain different technique for preventing performance problems to occur in a local area network. There are so many different techniques for preventing performance of a local area network. First, incline the number and speed of hard disk. Second, for load the balance of server should be added new servers and network functions. Increase to server memory is very vital for preventing the performance of a local area network. Also, should be setting of operating system. One thing is more; user should files moves from the server to the client PC.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   TASK 3 3.1  Ã‚   Identify and explain different security exposures and violations concerned with the security of a local area network. Probes: Probes confirm for protected servers or services so as to might be successively on computer on user LAN.   These tests are generally completed through programs that get a collection of IP addresses selected by the individual running the program. Moreover, there are some common services like mail, web and so on. Apart from this, when set up of other services then program try to observe. Furthermore, if it know how to login or else get access to that service. Probes are not to run some servers which you cannot recognized. Worms: A worm is a separate malware computer program. It is very harmful for network. Worm replicates itself to spread one system to another system. It does not require human intervention to spread.   It makes unusual to storage devices. Virus: Viruses are normally not security threat in a local area network to PCs. Virus can create lots of troubles. Moreover, it can be change the implementation of processor. It can transmit the virus one computer to another computer as well. Furthermore, virus can do loss the data.Due to the virus processor working slowly. Trojan Horses: Trojan horse is any malicious computer program which is used for hack into a computer through misleading client of its correct intention. This threat attackers use for private information like as banking information, passwords and personal identity as well. Moreover, this threat use for spreading malware across the network. Also, it can be corrupt the data and deletion to files. 3.2 Determine the possible solutions to these exposure and violations by giving at least 1 example each form an industrial perspective. Solution of Virus: Malicious software is very helpful for removing the virus, because without malicious software is very to remove the virus. Apart from this, there are some removal tools as well. User should install antivirus software for removing the virus. As well, user ought to be keep antivirus application for updating the computer. Solution of Trojan Horses:- Firewall software could compose invisible to user PCs.Firewall software too advise to user while programs on user PCs try to the attached with internet without significance. It will give information if user gets some virus.User should remove problems which are affected by Trojan horses threat. Parkinsons Disease - the chances of a trembling body Essay -- Biology

Parkinson's Disease - the chances of a trembling body I have been closely following the news in the past months and I have noted a continuum in the coverage of the medical condition of one person who for many symbolizes the virtues of man, has been associated with the liberation of the minds of people under the communist era, has firmly supported the foundations of the Catholic faith and has been inspiration for many - the current Pope John Paul II. The newspaper photos of his almost expressionless face and the constant trembling hand which have started hindering his public activities and my deep respect to the his achievements made me look into the roots of the Parkinson's disease and its effects on behavior. Parkinson's disease, or the "shaking palsy" as first defined by Dr.Parkinson in the early 19th century, is defined as a disorder of the central nervous system, affecting about 2% of the world's population. It is more common among older people and there is a higher percentage of men affected by it. (1)Cells in the part of the brain that control movement are lost, causing sometimes severe difficulty in performing movements with a variable intensity depending on the individual cases(2) The widely recognized symptoms include muscular rigidity, resting tremors, bradykinesia, inconsistency of posture, dementia. All of these symptoms directly or indirectly affect the patient's behavior. The symptoms only appear after the death of 80% of the cells which produce dopamine. (4) The loss of dopamine causes the nerve cells of the basal ganglia to fire out of control, leaving patients unable to direct or control their movements in a normal manner. Thus, the early diagnosis is very hard, especially in the sporadic cases. Muslim and Non Muslim Laws :: essays research papers

Islamic law and non-Muslims Some pro-Israeli opinion cite traditional interpretations of sharia (Islamic law) which requires, among other things, that Muslim territory encompass all land that was ever under Muslim control, as a source for the Arab-Israeli conflict. Since the territory of Israel, prior to being the British Mandate of Palestine, was once part of the Ottoman caliphate, some Islamic clerics believe it is unlawful for any portion of it to remain 'usurped' by non-Muslims. By contrast, pro-Arab opinion points at the pronounced religious tolerance of the caliphates, where Christians and Jews coexisted "harmoniously" with Muslims and were granted limited self-autonomy. Resentment of Israeli Jews, this argument concludes, only emerged as a result from and after the rise of the Zionist enterprise in Palestine. Pro-Israeli views, however, often dismiss this explanation with the argument that Muslim Arab hostility towards Israel is largely derived from the sharia dictation that Jews or Christians are not to be considered equal to Muslims. Pro-Arab commentator view this as running counter to the tradition of tolerance towards "People of the Book" in Islam. They also point towards the long tradition of Palestinian Christians in their resistance to Israel and its policies, including such noted figures as Edward Said and George Habash, and the various Palestinian secular movements such as the PLO itself. In turn pro-Israeli proponents refer to a declining Christian Palestinian population (along with those of most Arab Christians) as, at least in part, a product of Muslim hostility towards non-Muslims, in general. According to a report published in December 2001 by the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies think tank. The Christian Exodus from the Middle East (http://www.defenddemocr acy.org/usr_doc/Christian_Exodus.pdf), in December 1997 The Times noted: "Life in (PA ruled) Bethlehem has become insufferable for many members of the dwindling Christian minorities." The report also states that "Christians in the Palestinian territories have dropped from 15% of the Arab population in 1950 to just 2% today." Some Palestinian Christian are of the opinion that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has led to the diminishment of their population[[8] (http://christianactionforisrael.org/antiholo/hate_jews.html)][[9] (http://www.amconmag.com/2004_05_24/article.html)]. Ohers, like Abe Ata, a Palestinian Christian, are of the opinion that American Christians have "turned their backs" on them by supporting Israel [[10] (http://www.natcath.com/NCR_Online/archives/112202/112202r.htm)]. The Anglican bishop of Jerusalem, Riah Abu El-Assal, is recorded as being "intemperate in his attacks on Israel"[[11] (http://christianactionforisrael.org/ant iholo/hate_jews.html)]. Many Palestinian Christians have complained about Israel's treatment of them. One such complaint is that Israel does not give Palestinian Christians permission to visit holy places [12] (http://www.

Compare Popes and Swifts Ideas on Reason Essay -- essays research pape

Reason’s Significance   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  One of the most important differences between humans and all other forms of life can be seen in our ability to think and rationalize our decisions and choices as humans. Without reason, we as humans would be no different than a cat or dog. God, in his infinite wisdom, blessed man with the ability to reason, but left it entirely up to us whether or not we choose to use it. Alexander Pope and Jonathon Swift, two prominent writers of the eighteenth century, take two very different approaches when it comes to the importance or insignificance of reason. Pope chooses to argue that reason is the balancing factor in our lives and helps us to achieve the most possible success if we listen to its judgment. Swift, on the other hand, chooses to take reason to the extreme and show the effects of its very possible distortion. Although entirely different, these men show the very best and worst applications of reason. In â€Å"Gulliver’s Travels,† Jonathon Swift shows what happens when we place too much emphasis on reason. In his satire, Swift pokes fun at those who are consumed with the Enlightenment way of thinking. He believes that to place reason in such high esteem is not as necessary as some are making it out to be. Although he seems to believe that reason has its place in our society and every day life, it is not the governing factor by which we should live. In â€Å"Gulliver’s Travels† we see what can happen when people loose touch with reason and the consequences that follow their decisions. In Gulliver’s third voyage to the island of Laputa, Swift pokes fun at those that are obsessed with learning science and abstract thought. He gives us a detailed account of the inhabitant’s lives and daily activities. He begins to describe the Laputians physically by saying that they always have their head tilted to one side or another. He also talks of the eyes of the citizens. He claims that one is poked out, looking upward and the other is turned slightly inward. Swift satirizes their attention span as well. He tells that someone must follow the inhabitants around and continuously poke their ears or mouths because their attention span is so short and they must be remind to pay attention. He even goes as far as to make fun of the clothes they wear. He tells that they are covered with musical instruments and various forms of celestial... ...oes on around us. Pope shows us the importance of having reason and how it serves as a guard for the ultimate fulfillment of our lives as both humans and individuals. Without the ability to reason, we would make many mistakes and would quite possibly be very disappointed in ourselves and in the way our lives turn out. He presents man as unique with only humans having the ability to reason. He also shows the importance of free choice showing that we ourselves chose whether or not we listen to reason. Animals merely give into their passions, but man has a choice.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Overall I must say that I enjoyed both of these interesting, insightful and quite disturbing accounts of the importance of reason and what happens when it no longer used. I would have to say that I enjoyed reading Pope’s account of the importance of reason much more, but Swift was also quite interesting. It amazes me how two men are able to look at one principle and interpret it in two completely different manners. Whether we choose to value reason or cast it aside, I have learned we must be careful not to take it to either extreme, for therein the problems lie. Hope this helps all you guys!!!

Classroom Observation Critique Essay

The goal of using think aloud in reading a text is to help students develop the ability to monitor their reading comprehension and use strategies to facilitate understanding. Studies show that students who verbalize their thoughts while reading score significantly higher on comprehension tests. The Teacher The teacher has a pleasing personality, which I think the reason that draws pupils’ eyes to the teacher’s face and listen to her voice. For the whole duration of my teaching profession, I have observed that the teacher’s appearance greatly affects students’ attention. The more beautiful the teacher is, the more attentive the students are, especially at the opening of classes. This led me to recall my elementary and high school years when I liked more my pretty teachers than those that are not so pretty. As a teacher right now, this can be very subjective and should not to be the sole basis in assessing teacher performance. However, every teacher should strive to look at their best every day. The teacher is confident and shows mastery of the subject matter. I believe this is very important because it is where we build trust from our students. And because the students trust you, they are more than willing to open themselves and ask you everything they need to know. The teacher answers the students’ questions in a simple and understandable way. In this manner, there is total understanding on the part of the students. Every teacher should make sure that all questions and clarifications raised by the students must be thoroughly answered and cleared. The teacher maintains discipline and control of the class. I believe this is one strong aspect of classroom management. At the beginning of the class, the teacher sets the mood where she is enthusiastic and maintains a warm and friendly atmosphere conducive to learning. She also avoids making embarrassing remarks about the student’s ideas or actions. In return, the students respect and admire her. She successfully establishes rapport with her students. The Teaching Procedure Introduction/Before Reading The teacher starts with a class discussion: What strategies do good readers use to make meaning of the text? In a class size of 20-30, each student is given the chance to speak of his/her thoughts. This follows that smaller class size is more well-attended to by the teacher compared with 40-50 students in a class, where, only a fraction of the students speak up because it would take a lot of time and the teacher is obliged to proceed to the next activity. After which, the teacher presents the term â€Å"think aloud† to the students and have them brainstorm and report on how it might be used in reading. The groups of four (4) actually make the correct guesses on how they understand the term given. Then, the teacher distributes the bookmarks with different strategies of thinking aloud written on it. Later, strips of paper with definitions of the strategies are distributed for matchmaking. Before the answers are revealed, the students are tasked to what they think of the strategies. In this kind of activity, the students get to compare their reports/answers with the list given and survey themselves how often they use these active reading strategies before. During Reading Students receive three post it notes. They label them: BEFORE READING, DURING READING and AFTER READING. The use of colorful post it notes in this activity keeps the flow of active participation. Colors, especially the bright ones, add life to our classroom activities. This is because colors stimulate our creative expression, lending excitement and interest. The use of small things like the bookmarks and post its, enhances students’ manipulative tendencies. They are also readily available and very handy. Teachers should keep a stack of these. As the teacher models think aloud, students write down on their post it notes what strategies the reader uses before reading, during reading, and after reading. This involves the teacher thinking out loud when working through the problems in the text and demonstrating processes for the students. However, the attention of students is very important. They have to listen and observe well. Then, one after another, the students read the remaining paragraphs in the class and model the kind of think aloud strategy he/she chooses. This is the part where students are provided with enough practice, collaboration, repetition and hands on activity until the students learn on their own. The above activities, as a whole, give more teacher involvement at first; then later, there is less teacher involvement, that is, he/she should only guide the students while they have total responsibility in attaining the required skill. After Reading The class conducts 3-2-1 activity—3 things learned, 2 things liked about the lesson, 1 question one still have. Again, each one has the chance to speak in front. Questions and interpretations are clarified, where the students remember what they have individually created in their minds from the text. This serves the primary purpose of post reading activity which is to provide the students the chance to ask questions concerning their assignments and extension of lesson. Enrichment Activity The students are grouped into four and read a copy of a poem that is unfamiliar to each group while using think aloud strategies. â€Å"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.† – Eleanor Roosevelt

Responsibilities of a team leader Essay

Four responsibilities of a team leader in our organization: 1. Food alert files (Health and Safety, Food and Safety). First of all, to make sure that all work environment is safe for employees and customers. Second, to check if all departments are providing good Food alert standards set by government at work place. As well, to make sure that all legally required documents would be up to date. 2. Communication. All team leaders constantly need to be in good communicational skills, if you want to run successful business. Everyday you have to communicate with Head office as well as other restaurants, to know what’s happening in all company, using phones or e-mails. And don’t forget to pass important news for team members. Inside the house, usually, Managers team is communicating though the LogBook, and with team members during briefing times before sifts. 3. Motivation is the driving force, which help courses us to achieve goals. Leaders using motivation will satisfy individual needs and team will have inspiration to complete the tasks. It’s very important point in running business. Depending on how motivated teams are, it may further determine the effort they put into their work and therefore increase the standard of the output. 4. Presenting good example and standards or the company. Team Leader always needs to be as example how to act at work, and that other team members would be able to take some experience. If everyone will represent good company standards and will look after the customers well, they will not only think well of the team but also of the company in general. Two examples of the problems you would need to refer to someone with more authority: 1. Racism. It is illegal to discriminate against anyone of the grounds of their race. If it would happen in work place, management team needs to investigate. Just GM or Head office member has authority to take action on  such a complaint. 2. Reconstruction. Every business has yearly budgets, if someone wants to reconstruct the building outside or inside it has to be approved by GM. Feedback on own performance Collected feedback to identify one of my strengths as a team leader and one area for improvement: †¢ Strength – Organized team supporter. Always supporting team and showing organizational skills. †¢ Area for improvement: rudeness, toughness. Sometimes, choosing wrong way of speaking + plus very demanding on the things to be done. Establishing trust One thing to describe what you can do to establish and maintain trust within the team you lead: Respect for others. One of the most important points to work on. If it will be trust and understanding in the team, there will be respect and good atmosphere for work, witch will course business to run smooth. To maintain trust you have to work on couple of following points: †¢ Time- set aside time to be with these people, work with them, talk with them and even play with them. In the end you will gradually start to realize that there personality or point of view aren’t that hard to get along with after all. †¢ Patience – The truth is that the best people, the smartest people and the most successful people take a good long look at other people and express empathy and selflessness towards the people they associate with. †¢ Listening- always to have time to listen for the others, to step aside and to take a look at their opinion. Maybe some examples can be even better then yours. †¢ Laughing- it’s one of the important points, to build the team, not just to be a working robots. With the laugh in the teamwork will run perfectly, plus good relaxed atmosphere. †¢ Honesty- if you will be honest with them, they will be the same with you.

Compare and Contrast ‘Teresa’s Wedding’ by William Trevor and ‘The Three Sisters’ by Jan Austen

In this essay, I will be comparing the two short stories – ‘Teresa's Wedding' written by William Trevor and ‘The three sisters' which was written by Jane Austen. Trevor's story written in the 20th century is set in Ireland while on the other hand; Austen's story was situated pre -twentieth century in the old 19th century England. Although both these stories are based upon marriage and how marriage is reflected within the eyes of the community it can be speculated that each author wants to show the audience a different view point on what they think towards the concept of marriage and the true value of it. For example, William Trevor uses a close and detailed description to create a sense of character and tone. This can be seen at the wedding reception at the bar in ‘Teresa's Wedding' where he talks about the confetti: ‘it lay thickly on the remains of the wedding cake, on the surface of the bar and the piano, on the table and on the two small chairs that the lounge bar contained' From looking at this we can immediately see that William Trevor is writing in detail and makes the audience read beneath the surface of the passage. The use of detail description makes the reader want to read on and as they read they are unveiling new things from the text. William Trevor has cleverly made the audience read in detail as each thing he describes gets described in more and more depth – he is making us read on because we want to find out more about the wedding reception. Furthermore Trevor's characters are also described in detail and get developed through the description. Loretta, one of the bride's sisters is ‘small and brown'. This emphasises that Trevor is trying to tell us something. Unlike Trevor, Jane Austen on the other hand does not describe any of her characters in depth. Instead A usten builds up a sense of character through her letters and dialogue. This is clearly portrayed in the character of Mary Stanhope when she talks about herself getting married. ‘I am the happiest creature in the world, for I have received an offer of marriage from Mr Watts. It is the first time†¦' Jane Austen here engages and alerts the audience's presence as she uses a formal manner of tone and repeatedly uses first person narrative -‘I'. The purpose of this is to make the author seem invisible and makes the reader feel as though they are being spoken to by someone that is not the writer. Also Jane Austen makes the audience aware that the character speaking is young as she writes – ‘it is my first time'. Furthermore when Mary Stanhope is writing to Fanny she uses some youthful phrases such as ‘I hate him'. The tone is personal and is directly addressing the reader as ‘I', which in turn makes the sentence feel conversational. The fact that it is written in the first person, the text addresses the reader as second person and therefore giving an intimate tone. Another major difference between the two stories is that à ¢â‚¬ËœTeresa's Wedding' is a traditional story that creates tension and builds up to a intensifying climax unlike the ‘the three sisters' which is just a series of letters. As readers it is easy to take note that in ‘the three sisters' that Mary Stanhope is trying to get one over on her two sisters – Georgiana and Sophia. ‘It will be such a triumph to be married before Sophy, Georgina and the Duttons' From looking at the text above we as readers can see that to Mary Stanhope it is just about getting one over on her sisters and does not value the true meaning of love. To a certain extent we can say that she behaves much like a child – it is as if the character behind the eyes of her is just an innocent child who has not grown up yet. Jane Austen here is trying to show the audience that Mary still a girl in some sense who is still growing up. In addition to this, Mary Stanhope seems to be self centred, judgemental and very conscientious compared to her other sisters. She appears to be changing her mind a lot about Mr Watts – ‘I hate him' and ‘I am the happiest creature in the world'. She is contradicting herself which can also show that she is very judgemental and juvenile. The text and the different moods that Jane Austen has applied to the character of Mary Stanhope is intelligent in some way as she creates humour as we read on. In other words she has very cleverly secreted the irony of the humour within the passage itself, so as a result the reader has to unveil the irony as they read. Furthermore when we look at the attitudes of Mary we can see that the attitudes of women have changed these days. The fact that women these days are not concerned about their social status and being the first girl to marry in the family contrasts with the idea of Mary who is in turn looking for pride, status and indepe ndence – Mary is very materialistic. In contrast to this, ‘Teresa's Wedding' by William Trevor does not follow the idea of the eldest girl having to be the first girl to marry in the family as to being a triumph, but instead William Trevor wants to show his audience the true meaning of love and its value. Even though Teresa cheated on Artie, William Trevor show the reader that even in times of badness couples can make it through if the love for each other is strong enough . The key moments in the story are when Father Hogan says about Artie and Teresa: ‘ Isn't it great that God gave them life' and when Artie asks Teresa: ‘ Did Screw Doyle take you into the field' From looking at these texts we can see the importance of the plot and tension because the story is about Artie and Teresa getting married and when Father Hogan says that its great that God gave life to Artie and Teresa we can see the irony in contrast to Teresa cheating on Artie with Screw Doyle. The fact that Father Hogan said what he had that led up to a tense climax. From above William Trevor like Jane Austen have many similarities in their work as they both use irony. The usage of irony in Father Hogan's case makes the audience understand that there is more to what is being said than the literal meaning of it. If we compare the different sentence structures each novelist uses we can see that Jane Austen in ‘The Three Sisters' tends to use a mixture of simple, compound, complex and varied sentence structures. For example and during many points in letter 1 she uses a complex sentence structures: ‘He said he should come again tomorrow and take my final answer, so I believe I must get him while I can. The usage of longer sentences sometimes explain difficult or tense situations, to suggest characters confusion and also gives the passage a continuous flow to it and as a result makes the reader read on. Also when Jane Austen employs a simple sentence when Mary believes that she should have Mr Watts – ‘I believe that I should have him' it creates a sense of excitement and makes the reader read faster. Overall if we look at both stories it is possible to compare and contrast many aspects of these stories. The fact that both the stories differ it reflects the author's differing concerns. Jane Austen is primarily seeking to address to the audience that Love and Society as it stands today have hardly any resemblance of any sort in relation with her story. Where Mary Stanhope says that Mr Watts has ‘a large fortune' but she ‘cannot stand him' and ‘he is very healthy' reflects what the women of today want – They want husbands in sickness and in health and value their love not take them for granted. In contrast to this, William Trevor his trying to show his audience that love can be salvaged if the bond and care between the couple is strong enough: ‘She felt that she and Artie might make some kind of marriage together because there was nothing that could be destroyed, no magic' We can see that through William Trevor's eyes he thinks that if love is such a powerful element then it can withstand anything, even deceit. I think that although Jane Austen and William Trevor have different ideas towards love and society they have both accomplished their aims as they present these ideas to audience which makes them understand. For example, the irony both authors employ towards love make the reader unveil the humour which is hidden or secreted within the passages and it is this tool which makes the reader appreciate the true meaning of love and its value. Also in ‘The Three sisters' Jane Austen purposely uses first person repeatedly to make the tone of the language and text seem personal, and therefore make the text conversational and make the audience more involved – it draws them into the world of the story. Also the ‘I' makes it seem as though the character is talking directly to the audience and so attracts their attention. Furthermore I think William Trevor has produced such a good story as he likes following the character very closing and explains them in detail and therefore allows the reader to pay close attention to what is going on.

Rural Community Health Service Provisions Health And Social Care Essay

Chronic diseases can be a fatal, yet, returns on gradual procedures toward morbidity and mortality that include cardiovascular diseases, both types of diabetic conditions, and hapless respiratory position. These conditions are mostly related to the life style that persons lead, with their consumptive wonts of dietetic nutrients, baccy and intoxicant ingestion, as accompanied by physical activity modus operandis ( Halpin, Varela & A ; Martin-Moreno, n.d. ) . In a survey on the incidence of cardiovascular conditions in some developed states of North America and Europe, it had revealed that hypertensive episodes in older age groups had been more controlled in the former bunch, with Canada included, compared to the higher survey results in the latter, 8 % and 23 % severally ( Wolf-Maiser, et al. , 2003 ) . The better direction strategy in the North American opposite numbers could hold demonstrated better wellness attention systems, yet, reverse could still be observed in such locations. At this point, the chronicity of diseased instances prevalent in older age groups seemed to further expose them to vulnerable state of affairss, topped with the devolving physiological maps associated with progressing phase of chronological adulthood. As such, higher incidence of cardiovascular diseases with older age brackets appeared to present a serious community issue that requires close examination and inclusion of wellness reforms to holistically back up their present position. In peculiar, the distribution of wellness attention services in Canada ‘s rural communities had been identified as one of the important countries that seemed to be neglected in the bureaucratic procedure in wellness reforms. Unlike any definition on rural construction, Slack, Bourne & A ; Gertler ( 2003 ) admitted that the state do non hold clear differentiation of what rural community is, depicting non-urban zones as rural in construction. Compared to the wellness services provided in the urban countries of Canada, the farness of several of its rural units had been fraught with several defects in wellness services, with inclusions in primary wellness unavailability, lower wellness forces figures, and hapless attention installations, as geographic distance and lifestyle position are said to be deteriorating in these countries ( Ryan-Nicholls, 2003 ) . As such, the job of cardiovascular diseases with older age groups had been compounded with the want of quality wellness services that should hold been more both timely and well-supported by involved wellness sectors As portion of the job associated with wellness attention in rural communities, wellness forces and societal public assistance officers have the primary duty to look at the general and wellness public assistance of the citizens in the community, particularly the defenseless groups of both immature and old age bunchs, yet treatments above revealed the lower keeping rates of wellness staff in rural units. The job with this is non the low work force in wellness workers, but instead, there appeared to be an unequal distribution of labour force between rural and urban locations ( Ryan-Nicholls, 2003 ) . Acknowledging the root of wellness attention forces deficits, such reverse seemed to add to the lifting job of ageing population in Canadian communities. At big, Arah, Klazinga, Delnoij, Asbroek, and Custers ( 2003, p. 384 ) emphasized that despite the wellness attention duties centered on wellness forces, reform in primary attention will still come from parts in other related sectors, such as the networking commissions in â€Å" national, regional and local degrees. † With the prevailing tendency of wellness publicity in Canada ‘s wellness system, the function of the bureaucratic authorities in support service plans for the ageing population had been established ; yet, subsequent studies demonstrated oversights in following through the undertaking plans towards the execution and existent direction stage. Hence, such projected wellness publicity efforts appeared fall more in ineffectual efforts-federal engagement had been well limited in local community enterprises ( Boyce, 2002 ) . The wellness attention issue in rural communities, affecting ageing populations with cardiovascular conditions, so, would necessitate the conjunct attempts of the local wellness forces, every bit good as the national wellness commissions responsible for resource support and allotment of just and quality services to remote rural countries in Canada.Literature ReviewCanada is a state with well-managed resources, and as its population grows, so will the demands of the people become higher. As emphasized by Clark and Leipert ( 2007 ) , the incidence of widening figures in the older age groups, runing from 65 old ages old above, had caused ruffling effects in its aftermath. On one manus, their worsening wellness that had been combined with cardiovascular conditions indicates that they need more clinical aid more. On the other, their age prevents them from happening employment as their physiological and mental wellness are said to by and large worsen with the rise of figures in their age. Such observations had been relevantly reflected in several surveies conducted in European states. Peoples nearing center to old age exhibited higher medical outgos compared to those in really old age ( 85 old ages old and above ) ( Rechel, Doyle, Grundy and Mckee, 2009 ) . At which point, ingestion of medical intervention may accountably lift when old persons believe that the y have better opportunity of widening their lives beyond 65 old ages old, bring forthing more government-assisted wellness services in the long tally. Their medical attention non merely consists of availing the services of clinical installations and wellness suppliers, but besides the medicine supplies and place attention care particular in their status, like in persons with cardiovascular conditions. More common than non, there is hapless attachment to order medicines as the costs can non afforded by persons with lower income ( Mojtabai & A ; Olfson, 2003 ) . In the instance of old population who are retired, there is no generated income at all, merely the retirement pensions for some. There are personal jobs that these groups had to face, and these are reflected on the quality of wellness they sustain. Historically, rural communities had long since experienced the job of reverses associated with delayed wellness commissariats from the cardinal authorities well funding the national wellness plans. In every bit early as the twelvemonth 1969, those in political power have already recognized the deficiency of wellness attention staff willing plenty to shack in distant countries, for the interest of executing their pledged undertaking, to function the people in equal chances. Yet, it seemed that by the passing of the decennaries, such job had non lessened with clip, this, alternatively, became a grim instance of reduced attention practicians in such locations, where at that place used to be a solo wellness supplier in every communities, now, they have become more scarce in several 1s ( Pong & A ; Russell, 2003 ) . In line with this, the laterality in big medical establishments had shifted towards community wellness Centres and smaller attention clinics in the late sixties ( Groene & A ; Garcia-Barbero, 2001 ) . At this point, it must be recognized that no affair how updated the installations are and how willing the community citizens undertaking in collaborating for better wellness allowances, they all will be in vain when there are no wellness attention staff to ease such resources in the field. In such scenario, it appeared that oversights in support from higher authorities sectors had led to decomposition of wellness attention structures in the said countries. In the traditional design followed by Canada ‘s wellness sector section during the late fifties, no specific policies had been constructed in every bit administering wellness forces on the different countries in the state. Such deficiency of systematic attack had been dramatically revised in 1966, where practising medical forces have more autonomy in puting private pattern for definite fees, restricting wellness services that are low-cost in the state. Acknowledging a figure of disagreements with su ch clinical freedom, federal authorities placed more stiff parametric quantities to protect consumer rights, punctually supplying for services that are out of privately-insured medical strategies, such as â€Å" place attention, nursing places, outpatient pharmaceuticals † ( Tuohy, 2002 ) . As observed in such authorities reforms in wellness, precedences had been more on administering more wellness services to more people, ignoring the equal chances for communities to obtain wellness forces to help in their wellness issues. Aid in rural locations, particularly the fiscal 1s, is transferred from the Provincial divisions through established transportation undertakings. The ideal system postulate that the divider of authorities ‘s countries of duties into sub-divisions denote faster distribution and use of much demand commissariats and services, as the local scenes are given adequate entree to resources to ordain on issues that needs prompt actions ( Slack, Bourne & A ; Gertler, 2003 ) . However, such scheme had presented several oversights, as it had non been plenty in turn toing the cut downing figure of wellness forces in rural communities, certifying that fiscal resources are non the lone country that require examination in turn toing wellness unfairness of old population-federal committedness for effectual primary attention reform should be strengthened. As authorities support is mostly required to advance communities that are well-sustained in back uping the demands of its local citizens, their function in the procedure of accomplishing such nonsubjective is critical. Retrospective surveies revealed the deficiency of consolidation between the divisions, federal and provincial systems, in authorities opinion and duties, as struggle on sum of financess transferred from federal to provincial offices had non been settle in the past decennaries. Revisions in the support transportation had taken topographic point during the 1995 budgetary cuts, allowing out several protests at the lower degree of the authorities offices in provincial subdivisions. Where some countries had still remained the precedence, such as wellness publicity schemes, and wellness installations, wellness policies back uping community wellness development through better supply of wellness attention staff remained written in commission studies, but ne'er to the full realized ( Tuohy, 2002 ) . With such complecting constructs on ageing population, cardiovascular conditions, and attendant habitation in distant rural countries, the class of progressing developmental age is more at hazard than any other age groups in the same state of affairs. The capacity of the topics in the survey to flexibly get by seemed to travel reciprocally with age. As such, this reappraisal of valid surveies had shown that small attending had been given to strip older persons. Relative with this, spreads on how to turn to the wellness conditions normally bing in persons, every bit good as reconstituting the primary attention construction, must be analyzed and given prompt and efficient attending, as their go oning tendencies may take to more unfairness that takes advantage of the clustered exposure of seniors shacking in distant rural communities.DiscussionThe primary issue of the paper centres on the combination of old age with chronic cardiovascular status and the deficiency of system support in r ural communities, which increases the hazard for lower wellness attention commissariats and services. Noting such incidents, a figure of priority solutions can be recommended to ease the wellness unfairness imparted to this group. The events taking to this may be summarily explained through the sensed barriers to hapless primary wellness attention bringing: ( 1 ) work force scarceness, ( 2 ) sustainable Economic barriers, ( 3 ) geographical unavailability, ( 4 ) cognition shortages ( Hutchinson, Hawes & A ; Williams, 2010 ) . As such, these may necessitate a comprehensive model of schemes which jointly reconcile each issue towards more effectual wellness attention construction. The efficient attacks in guaranting that older population have the critical wellness plans they need are to prosecute in the run towards â€Å" wellness publicity and disease bar † ( Burns, 2006 ) . The precedences of such constructs had been clearly delineated in the Ottawa Charter, particularly in the former context. This international end chiefly calls for the shared committedness of meeting stakeholders and involved parties in guaranting an efficient model that pursues wellness, above all. Particularly, the said committee had listed the entities involved in such an embracing wellness committedness, including â€Å" persons, community groups, wellness professionalsaˆÂ ¦institutions and authorities, † appealing that they abide with each of their duties in prolonging excellent for all, particularly the vulnerable ripening groups ( Lopez-Acuna, Pittman, Gomez, de Souza, & A ; Fernandez, 2000 ) . Medical schemes are non the primary focal point of the said end ; alte rnatively, it goes manner beyond the healing side to advance a wellness organisation that holistically meets the demands of possible clients in communities-physically, cognitively, psychologically, and spiritually. With the changing demands of ageing population with chronic conditions, a multi-dimensional declaration of perceived jobs may be required in this scenario. In a conceptual model observed in Figure 1 ( delight see Appendix A ) , it well review the general barriers to wellness development of rural community as a whole and ageing populations with chronic disease in peculiar. Schemes to hapless wellness conditions of ageing population in rural communities must non merely turn to their individualised conditions, as considerations on other societal and environmental factors environing these groups must besides be given sufficient attending. More significantly, the roots of the job must be addressed judiciously in order to continue in executing efficient wellness attention publicity and disease intercessions for the targeted group, the aged citizens. As identified earlier, there are five extenuating barriers to the hapless conditions of rural wellness units, and the people shacking in such countries. Earlier subdivisions in the paper had comprehensively reviewed the struggles between two divided subdivisions of the authorities, the federal and provincial authorities offices. As such, their budgetary differences seemed to halter the flow of resource support towards relevant wellness plans, likely decelerating the operations of receiver sectors that require attending, such as wellness attention constructions and issues. Through amalgamate and collaborative attempts by both authorities divisions, the flow of resources that will fund executable plans can be initiated and procedurally executed. In Action Plan instigated by the Canadian authorities in 1998, wellness promoting attacks, wellness communicating links, installations and wellness constructions had been given adequate precedence, while wellness work force and pharmacological supports had been left behind ( Tuohy, 2002 ) . In the proposed plan, all subdivisions needed in communities, particularly the rural countries, will be decently meted. . Workforce scarceness. Nursing forces deficits, particularly physicians and nurses, seemed to prefer big infirmary establishments in urban countries, instead than remain and function in tranquil and friendly vicinities in rural communities. As such, a figure of attacks can be recommended in pulling the involvement of wellness forces into rural locations. For one, the influence of pecuniary compensations can be one country to fulfill in professional workers. For another, satisfaction besides comes with the efficaciousness of wellness forces in their work environments. With updated and well-supplied wellness equipments and supplies, wellness professional can carry through their pledged responsibilities without negative feelings as they can execute significant undertakings for the community and its citizens, while maintaining their households near in supportive plans that finance several constituents of wellness staffs ‘ household members with them ( Pong & A ; Russel, 2003 ) . Wit h more wellness forces flocking rural communities, better wellness attention proviso can be rendered, and wellness instruction can be offered to seniors enduring from chronic conditions. Sustainable economic barriers. Government funding can non last in prolonging community development and its growing. At the initial stage, provincial sector of the authorities can supply for resources in get downing up community undertakings that may heighten the flow of economic gross towards rural communities. The chief economic issue in rural communities is that these units offer businesss that are non diversified in character, where professionals tend to look for occupations elsewhere as they lack the necessary comfortss to hike micro-business that could hold provided occupations for more local people. With this being the instance, authorising the citizens to move can be disputing. Like most enterprises, injection of fiscal capital for purchase of necessary resources is required to incite plans that address the economic demands of communities. For case, â€Å" Ontario Small Town and Rural Development Initiative ( OSTAR ) † had been established to assist the indicated sector in stabilising local economic systems and substructures ( Enid, Bourne & A ; Gertler, 2003 ) . Local organisers have the duty to take the remainder of the citizens towards preparation activities and concern ventures that may likely pull in occupations from suburban countries, and can even undertakings a sustainable position that depends less on provincial authorities in shouldering community betterments, such as local building costs and other plans related to better selling and consumer engagement in sceptered communities. Geographic unavailability. As Canada is non far behind its neighbouring world power states in economic advancement and enlargement, the issue of geographic distance could hold been easy resolved through modern agencies of communicating. The debut of medical specialty in the context of computerized engineerings had been introduced a few old ages back. Through the external supports attached with such technological inventions, picture cyclosis and Internet-based synergistic conversations can be possible. Termed as telemedicine, such scheme covers the distance between wellness suppliers and receivers during the proviso of attention and services ( Hutchinson, Hawes & A ; Williams, 2010 ) . Alternatively of aged patients with chronic conditions going far merely to run into their physicians for scheduled check-ups, this population can use their computing machine units in making so, without the excess disbursal and attempts. Health forces at certain distances can be accessed through practica l medium, from their ain places. Knowledge Deficits. With such reverse in several rural communities, aged people can non be updated with the true nature of their conditions. The deficiency of cognition on how to continue with ageing position can be compounded with low resources and uncoordinated webs in local rural zones to advance wellness consciousness. Through wellness publicity attacks, factual information can be distributed in timely and effectual ways. There are a assortment of ways in executing such ends, such as community consciousness, information thrusts, persuasion in societal policy alteration, go oning preparation and instruction, and active runs which demonstrate better wellness position ( Laverack & A ; Labonte, 2000 ) . Performing most of them, it is rather safe to state that lifestyle alteration, avoiding destructive baccy and intoxicant wonts while keeping better diet and exercising degrees, particularly in cardiovascular diseases in aged can be controlled. Furthermore, medicine regimen can be bett er complied, as this plays a portion in commanding several sorts of bosom diseases, such as high blood pressure ( Halpin, Varela & A ; Martin-Moreno, n.d. ) . These schemes must be systematically drilled in community scenes, concentrating on aged groups who are more vulnerable than the remainder. When there is betterment in wellness behaviours and informational follow-through in ageing population, they have better opportunity at forestalling farther patterned advance of acquired wellness conditions ; merely so can the enforced plans on wellness publicity and disease bar be viewed as partly successful in accomplishing community ends of better wellness through the coaction of different sectors in such schemes.DecisionAll in all, the job in older populations had converged, with inclusions of high prevalence of developing chronic cardiovascular conditions, and societal unfairnesss brought approximately by shacking in rural countries. Sing their distance from big infirmary establishments , this group is at higher hazard of developing shortages in cognition sing their current wellness position, as rural communities seemed to be prone to work force deficits, but in wellness and economic sectors. Furthermore, it seemed that the great distance projected by rural communities seemed to drive big concern ventures, worsening jobs of community sustainability of its citizens. Sing the drawn-out differences between the federal and provincial authorities sing budgetary affairs, jobs in community subdivisions remained dead and unattended for most of the clip. As proposed in the paper, the authorities in Canada plays a critical function, particularly in its capacity to supply resources and sufficient support, in developing the hapless wellness and communal conditions of several rural units. As such, fiscal and political support served stable anchors to induction of plans, from socioeconomic sustainability, set uping telemedicine connexions, and building effectual attacks in welln ess publicity ; all these contribute in their alone facets in hiking the overall position of rural communities. For the ageing population, support in wellness and day-to-day life seemed hearty plenty for some, while others continue to be involved in community engagement, as several seek authorization and independency, peculiarly on pull offing wellness more quickly and efficaciously.
